In Defense of the Second Amendment

The word assault is an action word. “Assault” rifle is nothing more than a scare tactic, as a rifle itself cannot assault without human intent. As for regulation, this is actually what our government wants. If we budge a little, they know we are willing to compromise and the next step is not just the removal of rifles, but all weapons. Here’s a question: How do you eat an elephant? In small bites. Take that into consideration when dealing with this agenda to remove guns.

“ A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government” - President George Washington, A true Patriot.

With little or no consideration we can determine George Washington was a man who valued individual liberty. He understood the importance of the 2nd amendment and its value in protecting our Bill of Rights. Remove the second amendment and the very foundation providing America’s freedoms will have been destroyed. Although our 2nd Amendment still exists many of our other amendments are currently under attack or being bypassed with cleverly written bills manipulating the people.

N.D.A.A 2012- Infringes our 6th amendment: our right to a fair trail. N.D.A.A allows indefinite detention of American citizens without trial.

H.R 347- Destroys our 1st amendment: the right to protest and right to freedom of speech. This bill criminalizes protesting, potentially making peaceable protest anywhere in the U.S. a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

F.I.S.A and the Patriot Act- infringes our 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th amendments in many ways. Allowing physical and electronic surveillance and collection of personal information and private conversation without warrant. Loosening law enforcement restrictions. Expanding abilities to deport people suspected as terrorists without actual proof.

These bills give our government the ability to control almost every aspect of our life. This is Fundamentally wrong and goes against everything America was built upon. These Bills have gone unnoticed to the public and need to be pointed out. The importance here is obvious. Our Bill of rights is being destroyed and the people of America for the most part do not even know of their existence. Are we beginning to see how important preserving our second amendment is now? Our second amendment is vital, never intended to safeguard hunters or sport shooting. It is our last defense, the one thing protecting our individual freedom shielding us from government controlled slavery.

That being said, what options do we have if the federal government goes forth with this weapons ban? Honestly there is no short answer. One group of people scream REVOLUTION! while the other group pleads for gun confiscation, as we have nothing to fear. Both sides bring valid points to the table and both sides are determined.

But there is a third side. Patriots, oath keepers, veterans, police officers, fire fighters, constitutionalists, libertarians (not liberals) people like myself who understand the Constitution and our Bill of Rights in its entirety. People Who understand and believe as our founding fathers did. These men are this generation of minutemen who will exhaust every resource, idea and avenue available to protect our individual liberties and ensure the people of the United States of America have a voice. Contrary to what liberals and our own government believe, we are not the enemy and bloodshed is the last thing on our minds. What is on our minds is what will prevail over time if we voluntarily relinquish our 2nd amendment. Totalitarianism is the real threat here, not guns.

No one is arguing violence is a problem in America. In addition guns only make up a small percentage of violent crimes committed. FBI factual evidence states gun crime is down 20%. The FBI released its homicide data table from 2007-2011 recently. “Assault rifles” caused 323 deaths in 2011. Knives murdered 1,694, blunt objects 496; personal weapons (hands and feet) 728 and other not listed 853. So the real question is why guns? People will kill without guns and the FBI investigation is proof!

On Jan-9-2013 Ben Swann of local FOX news station in Cincinnati, brings to attention some very important facts, ultimately discrediting CNN’s Piers Morgan. Swann stated, “There were 12,664 homicides in the U.S. Of those 8,583 were caused by firearms,” “But of those, 400 are listed as justifiable homicide by law enforcement — 260 justifiable homicide by private citizens.” This strikes the issue of “fewer guns mean less crime around.

“The U.S. has the highest gun ownership in the world…[making it] first in the world for gun ownership,” stated Swann. “[The] U.S., despite being number one in gun ownership, is number 28 in gun homicide, with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people.” “In the UK, there are 2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people,” Swann noted, showcasing that fewer guns is certainly not indicative of a lower crime rate (the rate in the U.S. is 466 per 100,000 residents).

If our government was really concerned with the safety of its people why remove guns and not question the real killers?

Our national media avoids the real facts and uses small little factoids to push an agenda set forth by a tyrannical government. There has been no mention of pharmaceutical deaths or the history involved when disarming the populace. All of this needs to be taken into perspective and researched more thoroughly than “guns killing people.”

In 2011 the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, an independent nonprofit organization reported 179,855 fatal drug events in the USA alone, a 9.4% increase from 2010. What was the response from the FDA? - “Nearly useless” backing the claim as vague, misleading and a failed report. Claiming information such as cause of death and patient age was never taken into consideration. Can’t the same be said about guns then? “Well, we don’t know if the bullet killed him or the bleeding,” or “well, if the murder victim was younger he would have survived.”

History also proves gun-grabbing works - for the government, not people’s safety. Throughout history many governments have forcefully and peacefully removed the peoples’ right to bear arms. For one purpose: totalitarianism rule. The results: democide. Stalin and Hitler are most noted murdering millions of citizens unable to protect themselves from a corrupt government. Just to put things into a better perspective:

60,000,000 murdered in Soviet Gulag

78,000,000 in Communist China

12,000,000 in Nazi Germany

2,000,000 by the Khmer Rouge

5,000,000 by the Japanese Army

All of which were mostly an unarmed populace. Many would argue our government is nothing like these foreign governments. However, what other reason would the government want to remove our guns? Protection from whom? Most certainly not ourselves, as statics actually prove guns save lives. Yes, also cause death, but compared to medicine and government there is no comparison.

Another surprisingly different issue to take into consideration is the media. The media continues to blow this out of proportion. Making kids like the Lanza boy household names, saying this is how it was done, this is what weapon was used, and how he did it. In a sense, giving these kids the glory and attention they desperately strive to receive. Case in point inviting “copy cats” to go big or go home. The media refuses to report on the good and only the bad, tainting the name of gun-owners nation-wide.

Our government has an agenda (whether we admit it or not). Mass murder of its people may not be its purpose, although control over the masses is. Our government has encouraged importation of a multitude of firearms for criminal use (look at the “Fast and Furious” scandal, look into Al Qaeda being trained by our soldiers/CIA) thus causing Americans to feel insecure, which is leading the American people to believe we are no longer safe and voluntarily disarming ourselves. Pharmaceutical drugs are possibly used in conjunction with this issue on mental patients by the CIA in programs known as MK Ultra and Orion, manipulating the desires of people to open fire in schoolyards, movie theaters and other populated areas (false flag events). This agenda is well underway and our middle class is desperately asking our government to step in and protect us.

By following the evil propaganda machine known to many as the media, we no longer use critical thinking skills necessary to challenge these controversial events. Instead we remain numb, neutral and quiet accepting what we are told. We no longer explore, discover or research for ourselves. Before blaming any one type of firearm, we must first take a step back remove emotion based decisions and truly ask ourselves where the real problem lies - government, its elitist friends, bankers and corporations.

Regional Spelling Bee Needs Local Financial Help

The Pearl City School gymnasium will be filled with anticipation and nervous energy February 26th as the top spellers from schools in Carroll, Jo Daviess, and Stephenson Counties compete in the Regional Spelling Bee.

Historically, the area spelling champion has received an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where he/she has had the opportunity to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Aaron Mercier, Regional Superintendent of Schools, is asking for help in continuing this time-honored tradition.

For years, the Bee was supported by one corporate sponsor. When that funding source was lost, the Regional Office of Education reached out to the surrounding communities to help save the Bee and send the winner to Washington D.C. For the past few years, area employers, community service organizations, and individuals have generously donated funds, making it possible for the winner to participate in the national contest.

Mercier feels strongly about the importance of continuing this tradition and is asking local communities for their continued support. “As society becomes more and more technologically oriented, a Spelling Bee may seem old-fashioned,” Mercier states. “However, a solid mastery of the English language still gives people a strong advantage in educational settings and later in employment situations.”

The cost of sponsoring the Bee and sending a contestant to Washington is approximately $5,000. “If we all pitch in, we can make this a successful regional event. Even if our winner doesn’t make it to the final rounds in the national contest, the experience itself is invaluable, “says Mercier.

The public is encouraged to attend the Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26th at the Pearl City School. In case of inclement weather, a “snow date” is scheduled for February 28th .
