Theodore “Ted” B. Coleman

Theodore Coleman, age 71 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Monday, January 21, 2013 at his home. A private family gathering will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Ted was born on February 17, 1941, the son of Fred E. and Lila E. (Messinger) Coleman in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Mount Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. Ted married Marie D. Gable on April 29, 1962 and was later married to Juanita B. Rodenburg on May 27, 1967 in Mount Carroll. Juanita died on July 4, 2012 in Freeport, Illinois.

Ted worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation, maintaining roads for over twenty-five years. In his younger years, Ted worked at the A&P and the movie theater in Mount Carroll. He was a member of the Mason’s and formerly served on the Mount Carroll City Council. Ted treasured spending time with his wife, Juanita, especially while traveling out West. Ted also enjoyed gambling and spending time with his dog, peaches. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Ted will be dearly missed by three children, Ted (Teresa Davis) Coleman of Chadwick, Illinois, Gwen (Daryld) Gahm of Mount Carroll and Chris (Charlie) Mason of Mount Carroll; eight grandchildren, Shanna (Ryan) Bess, Ashlynn (Joe) Roman and Theron Mason, Tel Fehlhafer and Tyrel (Jeanette) Fehlhafer, Casey Coleman, Benjamin (Jennifer Dempsey) Coleman and Nikki Davis; six great grandchildren; a special friend, Eleanor Eisfeller and his caregiver, Maryann Meador.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and one brother, Fred L. Coleman.

Lawrence “Harv” Koehn

Lawrence Koehn of Lake Carroll, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He was born March 28, 1928, to Fredrick William Koehn and Mathilda Wilhelmina Buhr.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol, their daughter, Kathryn (John) Aurenz, of New Carlisle, IN, son, Robert (Karen) Koehn of Belvidere, IL, son, Scott (Julie) Koehn of Bloomingdale, IL, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one sister, Esther Raiha, of Decatur, IL.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

He grew up in Bloomingdale, IL, and became a volunteer firefighter in Bloomingdale in 1953. He became Fire Chief on 1966, the district’s first full-time member in 1968 and retired in May, 1985.

Upon his retirement, he moved to Lake Carroll to enjoy his favorite hobbies of fishing and golfing, watching the birds at their feeder and just enjoying life. We will always remember his little ditties he would suddenly sing and all the other good times we had. He will be missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services per his wishes. Walker Mortuary, Freeport is assisting the family.

Gary George Schreiber

Gary George Schreiber was born on November 27, 1938 in Wagner, South Dakota the son of George and Mildred (Halter) Schreiber. Gary attended and graduated from Murray F. Tuley High School, Chicago, Illinois in 1956.

While in high school he completed ROTC and then went on to enlist in the US Army, serving in Korea. Gary married Ruth Cornick, and the couple were blessed with 3 children, Scott, Sue and Tod. They later divorced.

Gary spent the last 50 years with the love of his life Gloria. They were married on July 29, 1967 in Glenville, MN and they were also blessed with 3 children, Jason, Jennifer and Joe.

Gary started his career in water treatment with Culligan International. He spent the last 19 years as a Sales Manager with Purolite. Gary was one of the most highly respected international water specialists in the industry.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, bowling, golf, listening to 50’s and 60’s music, watching sports on TV as well as his beloved Westerns. Most of all he enjoyed working. One of the major highlights in the past couple of years was attending the NASCAR Driving School at the Chicagoland Speedway.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria, mother Mildred Schreiber, Illinois. 6 children; Scott (Lorie) Schreiber, Sue (Dan) Young, Tod (Anna) Schreiber, Jason (Kristen) Schreiber, Jennifer (Steve) Cole, Joe Schreiber (Jeff Clune). 20 grandchildren; Barb (Jake), Nick (Melissa), Cody, Rayanna, Brielle, Jay (Amy), Brady (Taylor), Callie, Ryan, Stephanie, Benjamin (Lindsay), Blair (Jason), Bria, Brody, Bryce, Beau, Judson, Eliasson, Harley and Stevie. 13 great-grandchildren; Kenny, Marissa, MaKayla, Jeffrey, Jacob, Gisele, Alaysia, Jaylah, Alannah, Avery, Ella, Jaxson and Izabella. Sisters, Sandy Bicker, Montana and Marsha (Bill) Aiken,Illinois, brothers Michael (Mary) Schreiber, Wisconsin and Bob (Dina) Schreiber, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father George and great-grandson Dominic.

Bernice Margaret Maszk

Bernice Maszk, age 89, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Mount Carroll Church of God, Mount Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.

Richard “Dick” Kenwyn Michael Delp

Richard Delp, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

Robert D. ‘Hootch’ Walker

Robert D. Walker, age 89 of Savanna, Illinois, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna with Reverend Sejoon Jang officiating. A memorial fund has been established in Hootch’s memory.

Florence Lillian Wheetley

Florence Lillian Wheetley, age 90 of Savanna, Illinois, died at home Sunday, January 27, 2013. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 1, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna with minister Anne Holmberg officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, January 31 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Florence’s memory.
