Spring Election: Petitions Filed, Slates Announced

This spring’s election looks to be full of competition in our local area. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 was the last day to file nominating petitions for the April 9, 2013 election.

Filing petitions for the City of Mount Carroll were:

Mayor: Incumbent Mayor Carl Bates and Ward 2 Alderman Bob Sisler

City Clerk: Incumbent Julie Cuckler, and former Alderman Nina Cooper

Ward 1: Incumbent Alderman Doug Bergren and former Alderman Jeanne Schnitzler

Ward 2: Incumbent Alderman Doris Bork, challengers Joe Grim and Wayne Knight

Ward 3: Incumbent Alderman Mike Risko Jr. and challenger Percy Vesperman

All positions are four year terms.

Filing petitions for West Carroll School Board were:

Incumbent Beverly Kilpatrick of Mount Carroll, Incumbent John Brigham of Savanna, Incumbent Mike Highland of Thomson, and Jennifer Rick of Thomson(seeking the seat currently held by Tim Atherton, who did not file for reelection).

Filing petitions for the City of Lanark were:

Mayor: Ken Viglietta and former Alderman John Huggins

City Clerk: Incumbent Jackie Hawbecker and Carol Kruzek

Alderman Ward 1: Incumbent Anne Lindsay

Alderman Ward 2: Weston Burkholder, who currently was appointed to replace Ron Strohecker, who resigned

Alderman Ward 3: Mark Macomber

Filing petitions for the Eastland School Board in Lanark/Shannon were:

Jennifer Sturtevant, Brian Heldt, William Woessner, and Steven Snider

Those seeking election in the Village of Shannon are:

President: Bonnie Foust

Trustees: Linda Stevens, Mike Alvey, Patty Hammer, Ellis Atherton, and Trent Robinson

Those seeking re-election in the Village of Thomson are:

Village President: Jerry “Duke” Hebeler

Clerk: Jenny Foltz

Trustees: Russ Gies, Brian Balk, and Vicky Trager

Filing petitions for the Village of Millegeville are:

Village President: Galen Wirth

Trustees: Wayne Sprecher, Gene Behrens, and William Stage

Seeking election in the Village of Chadwick are:

Village President: Incumbent Zelma McNeal, and Larry Miller

Clerk: Jan Queckboerner

Trustees: Rick Bosacki, Steve Schafer, Virginia Brinkmeier, Chad Judd, Nicole Shores, and Robert Wiltshire. There are three positions open.

The City of Morrison features an exciting line of petitioners who are:

Mayor: David Jindrich, Everett Pannier, Sarah Thorndike, and Martha Wood

City Clerk: Incumbent Melanie Schroeder

Ward 1 Alderman: Cheryl Bush and Dale Eizenga

Ward 2 Alderman: Nancy Riggen and Harvey Zuidema

Ward 3 Alderman: Curt Bender and Vernon Tervelt

Ward 4 Alderman: David Helms (4 year) and Scott Connely (unexpired 2 year)

Filing Morrison School Board petitions:

Kathleen Vegter, Mike Vegter, and Wolfgang Schmidt

Filing petitions in the City of Savanna include:

Mayor: Tony McCombie, and Incumbent Mayor Larry Stebbins

Clerk: Paul Hartman

Ward 1 Alderman: Margaret Haffey, Christine Lee, and Carol Fosdick (unexpired 2 year)

Ward 2 Alderman: none

Ward 3 Alderman: Curtis Hunsaker, and Lisa Robinson

Ward 4 Alderman: Bill Robinson and Ronda Riffe-Rathje. 2 year unexpired Gary Scott Law

Filing in the Village of Hanover:

Village President: Don Schaible

Clerk: Susan Fulton

Trustees: Robert Gable, Duane Brotherton, and Erin Murphy

The PA was unable to get the information for the Chadwick-Milledgeville School by press time.
