The Savanna Ambulance celebrated 40 years of service to the community on Saturday, September 28th, with a birthday bash in Old Mill Park, which included a Bounce House, grilled food, a clown, fun and a 5K run.
A small but enthusiastic group of runners included Shelby Rathje, Geneva Lantau, Jackie Walker, Kelly Eacker, Scott Eacker, and Matthew Eacker, Skylar Nelson and Madison Eppenstein.
Matthew Eacker won the race, finishing at a very impressive 29 minutes and 5 seconds.
The ambulance group was fortunate enough to have a private donor finance the entire proceedings.
A flight nurse from OSF (Order of St. Francis) was on hand to present the group with an award for their four decades of service, and presented President Charlie Corey for an award for his forty years.
A helicopter was scheduled to be present during the proceedings but was unable to come because of an emergency call.
A nice history of the Savanna Community Ambulance may be found at the City’s official webpage at www.savanna-il.gov. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
