Zachary “Zac” T. Isenhart, age 25 of Chadwick, Illinois died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa as a result of injuries sustained from motor vehicle accident. Zac was loyal to friends and family and was a loving dad to his son, Alec. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Chadwick American Legion, Chadwick. Zac was born on April 14, 1988 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Nicholas and Karen (Huizenga) Isenhart. He attended Chadwick and Milledgeville Schools and graduated from Milledgeville High School with the Class of 2006. Zac later graduated from Sauk Valley Community College with a degree as a Radiologist Technician in 2009.
Zac worked as a traveling Radiology Technician after graduation for a few years. When he was younger, Zac and his brother Tyler, along with their Grandma Shirley, would show cattle at county fairs. Farming was in his blood and it was a major part of his life as he raised 60 chickens and sold their eggs. He also had a large vegetable garden and would sell his produce at various local farmers’ markets. Zac loved spending time in the kitchen and was an excellent cook. He was also a talented baker and could make a wonderful homemade pie. Most of all, Zac treasured spending time with his family, friends and his loyal Boston Terrier, Carmen
Zac is survived by his father, Nick (Nancy) Isenhart of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; his mother Karen (Terry) Leif of Chadwick; his fiancé, Julia Allmon of Chadwick; his son, Alec; one brother, Tyler Isenhart; one half-brother Carson Leif; one half-sister, Sarah Leif; one step- brother, Justin Stolk; one step-sister, Jennifer Leif; his maternal grandparents, Kenny and Esther Huizenga and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norm and Shirley Isenhart; and a special great- grandma, Margaret Friederich.
Michael J. Metcalf
Michael J. Metcalf, 55 yrs. old, of Lanark passed away peacefully at his home on Sun. Dec. 1, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 23, 1958 in Chardon, Ohio, a son of Robert and Dorothy (Mandernach) Metcalf and was a Graduate of St. Edward’s High School in Elgin. He married Carolyn Walston in St. Charles, Il. on July 19, 1980. He was a member of Zion Church in Freeport.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn, of Lanark, his three children, Brittany Ann (Casimir) Golema, Nathan (Sarah) Metcalf, and Jessica (Andrew) Schmidt, five grandchildren, six brothers, Kevin, Patrick, Gary, Brian, Brad, and John Metcalf.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Tim and Geoff.
Services will be at 12 noon on Sat., Dec. 7, 2013 at the Zion Church, 4292 W. Stephenson St. Road in Freeport, Il. with Pastor Gardy Cronk officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7 pm on Friday and after 11:00 am on Sat. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in his memory.
SAVANNA – Robert “Bob” Mitchell was always active, especially when it came to sports. He was 62 when he passed into heaven on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Crest Ridge Nursing Center in Maquoketa, Iowa after a long illness.
Bob was born February 13, 1951, the son of Robert D. and Joyce (Dickinson) Mitchell. He attended Savanna Schools. Bob worked as a Sandblaster and Hook-up man with Allied Steel for 15 years. He was always active in sports and loved playing basketball against his dad. Bob was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears.
Bob will be dearly missed by two sons, Jeff (Brandi) Mitchell of Southern Illinois and Shawn Woods of Clinton, Iowa; his daughter, Lindsey Mitchell of Clinton, Iowa; his step daughter Dawn (Gary) Ferrell of Camanche, Iowa; nine grandchildren; his mother, Joyce Mitchell of Savanna; his brother, Rodney (Diane) Mitchell of Camanche, Iowa; and his sister, Sena (Tim) Schoenig of Savanna. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert and Uncle, Kenneth.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Alfonso “Al” Antonio Cantu, Jr., age 74 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, 107 N. Main Street, Elizabeth, Illinois. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in Schapville Zion Presbyterian Cemetery, Schapville, Illinois.
