We know summer is getting close when we receive the information on Theme Park Tickets. That is right, school will be out in a month and it is time to start thinking about those summer vacations. While the tickets are not in yet, I can tell you how much they will be. The Six Flags Great America tickets will be $39.50 which is a savings of $22.49 off of the gate price. Six Flags St. Louis is actually already open and tickets for there are $36.50 with a savings of $1.49 off the gate price. Adventureland tickets are $30 which is a savings of $10. Finally we also offer tickets to Silver Dollar City. They are $56.96 for a day pass for adults ages 12 and older which is a savings of $5.38 and tickets for those ages 4-11 are $46.21 with the same savings. Contact our office if you have any questions.

Monday, April 22 is the deadline to register for our Progressive Ag Safety Day which is open to children ages 6-13. There will be a variety of topics covered including electrical safety, bike safety, fire safety, and more. Registration forms were sent home from the schools and are available at our office. If you have not signed up for the Defensive Driving class the Women’s Committee is sponsoring on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8, there is still room. The class starts at 10 a.m. both days and will conclude around 2:30 p.m. Attendance on both days is required to receive your certificate. There is a cost of $12 to attend which includes all materials and lunch. Registration forms are available on our website, at all COUNTRY Financial offices in Carroll County, and at our office. Registration deadline is April 26. Those completing the course are eligible for a discount on their auto insurance, but they must attend both days to qualify. An examination is not required to complete the course or receive certification.
The Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside County Farm Bureaus along with the University of Illinois Extension Carroll/Lee/Whiteside Unit are sponsoring a bus trip to the Northern Illinois Agronomy Research Center in Shabbona on Wednesday, July 10th. It is their Summer Agronomy Field Day. The 160 acre center is the northernmost research and education center of the University of Illinois, providing land and support for campus-based researchers studying plant breeding, soil fertility, soil management, weed science, crop production, pest management, and environmental quality. About 45 separate research projects are conducted every year.
There is no cost to attend, however a $5 deposit to hold your seat is being asked. It will be refunded if you attend. You can register by calling the Whiteside Extension Office at 815-772-4075 or by obtaining a form from our office. The registration deadline date is June 28. The bus will pick up at our office at 6:45 a.m. on the 10th and return approximately 3:15 p.m. Lunch is provided.

Carroll County Farm Bureau members can place up to two (2) free classified ads per week, with a limit of 250 characters per ad (not including spaces). Ads are limited to personal or farm items for sale/wanted to buy, or farm labor or services available or wanted. No ads for the sale or rental of real estate, garage sales, or commercial businesses will be accepted. To place an ad, call the Farm Bureau office at 815- 244-3001 by noon Friday to get your ad in the following week’s paper.
