As an overachiever and someone who tends to be efficient, I am thrilled when I am given a new program idea and can run with it. The latest idea given to me by one of our directors was doing an online advertising page where farmers can post items they would like to sell that are lying around the shop. These items may not be worth taking to Hazelhurst. There is a form on our website and a separate page where all items will be posted. We will divide the page into categories. If this takes off big enough there is the possibility we would create our own farmer “Craigslist” type site. These ads will be different than those that are posted on our page in the Prairie Advocate.
To be one of the first to submit an ad, you can go to our website: www.carrollcfb.org and click on Farm Ads. There is a form there you can fill out and it will shoot the ad over to me. The categories to place ads in are: Livestock, Hay & Hay Equipment, Machinery, Parts, Farm Miscellaneous, Employment, Truck/Vehicle, and Wanted. That is right, you see employment is listed. We also have a form you can fill out if you are willing to do farm work. The employment form is for part time help and is posted on the home page of our website.
One of the ideas that was thrown at me a few years ago that I ran with (with the help of some great experienced tractor riders) was the tractor drive. I remember how over the top I was that first year. I was nervous something was going to happen, that I would forget something, that the day would not be perfect. Well let me tell you after the experiences I have had since that first one, now I feel like I don’t even prepare! In case you missed it, this year’s tractor drive is set for Friday, July 19th. We will be leaving the Eastland High School again this year. From there we will head over to Shannon and then out to Lake Carroll for lunch before we make our way back to Lanark. Cost is $25. Driver applications are available on our website or at our office.
We have a full stock of soy candles in the office. We recently received a shipment of the new spring scents. We have many of the traditional spring scents including Lilac, Raspberry Lemonade, and Wildberries. For new scents we have Golden Amber, Pineapple Peach, Costal Woods, Lemongrass, and Tangerine Blossom. Sizes range from 4.5 ounces up to 25 ounce jars with pricing from $6 to $15.
Don’t forget to make sure you are stocked up on Custom Pork Spice as we head into grilling season. I even got a text one Sunday night wanting to know if I had a spare jar at home. Unfortunately, I don’t keep any spares at home and was unable to help this person out.
Tucker’s baseball season has finally gotten underway. I am excited and proud to say his team took first place in their first tournament of the season. While it wasn’t a heat wave out there I am also excited it wasn’t below zero like last year! Or better yet, that we had a weekend without rain.
