The West Carroll CUSD #314 continues to be actively involved in the political process in Springfield, Illinois to obtain and keep equitable funding for education and fight against a 20% decrease in General State Aid for 2013-2014 and an 80% decrease in transportation funding when compared to local costs for 2013-2014.
Representative Mike Smiddy is organizing a second community forum at WCPS on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:00 to listen to local voters on educational issues and local topics of concern.
In addition, Senator Mike Jacobs is reaching out to local voters and residents to receive feedback on their concerns through an online survey which can be accessed below.
The subject was first addressed at a community forum Town Hall-style meeting on Thursday, April 4th at the West Carroll Middle School in Mount Carroll to discuss the lack of funding to Illinois Schools (in the April 10 edition of the Prairie Advocate News). Illinois Senator Tim Bivins (45-Dixon) and Representative Jim Sacia (89-Pecatonica) attended the meeting to answer questions posed by a panel of residents, parents, and administrators.
