Lanark Old Settlers Days

To enter the 2013 Old Settlers Days Parade on Saturday, June 29, please pick up your entry forms at Express Lane #5 (Shell Station), 403 N. Broad St. in Lanark, or contact Richard Delp, Lanark Lions Club Parade Chairman, at 815-493-2586. This year’s theme is “OLD SETTLERS DAYS RIDES AGAIN!!” Line-up is at 10 am, and the Parade starts at 11 am.

Al-Anon Group-Note Time Change

Shannon Al-Anon Group will meet at 4:00 p.m. Thursdays at the Wesley Chapel: Bethel United Methodist Church 217 S. Hickory St. Shannon, IL. Al-Anon helps families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of a relative or friend. The only requirement for attendance is that there is a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.

Don’t Miss The Adventures of Robin Hood!

Northwest Illinois Theater Coalition production of The Adventures of Robin Hood. Show times are at 7:30 pm Thursday and Friday, July 11 and12 in Stockton on the Plum River Players stage at Christ Lutheran Church. The Back Street Players will put on their show in Hanover at the Township Hall, 111 Monroe Street, at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 13 and at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 14. And finally, The Mighty Richland Players in Orangeville will host their usual dessert show at 203 High St., 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20, and at 2:00pm Sunday, July 21. Lincoln:
The Constitution and the Civil War

An Exhibition at 406 Main Street, Savanna Museum and Cultural Center. Open Wednesdays through Fridays, 5-8 pm. Saturdays and Sundays, noon -5 pm. Admission free. This traveling exhibition has been developed by the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia, and the American Library Association Public Programs Office, with generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities and through cooperation with the Savanna Public Library.

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first and third Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Lanark United Methodist Church. The LUMC Shawl Ministry invites anyone to come knit with us. NARFE Meets

On Jue 20th, NARFE (National Assoc. of Active & Retired Federal Employees) will meet at Noon at Manny’s Pizza, 211 Main St., Savanna, IL for their monthly luncheon meeting. A representative of the Citizens Utility Board “CUB” will provide the program. All active & retired federal employees, spouses and spousal survivors are welcome. The Shannon Knights of Columbus will be holding an omelet and cinnamon roll breakfast on Sunday, June 23 at St. Wendelin’s Church in Shannon. They will be serving from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon. Donations will be accepted.

NAMI Sauk Valley meets

NAMI Sauk Valley will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, at the Sinnissippi Centers, 325 IL Rt. 2, Dixon. This meeting provides education as well as support to families struggling with a diagnosis of mental illness in a relative or friend. An update of the NAMI Illinois activities and local programs will be given. NAMI Sauk Valley serves the residents of Ogle, Lee, Carroll and Whiteside Counties. The Lanark First Brethren Church will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast at the Lanark Fire Station during Old Settler’s Days from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. All proceeds will go toward a mission trip to Alaska.

There are lake front gardens, sun and shade gardens, natural areas, wooded pathways, water features and much more for your strolling pleasure. Proceeds go to Friends of the Lanark Public Library and local charities sponsored by the Lake Carroll Women’s Club.

Historical Society Annual Meeting

The Carroll County Historical Society annual meeting will be Sunday, June 30, 3:00 p.m. at the Owen P. Miles Museum, Mt. Carroll. Officers and directors will be elected for the coming year.
