Manning Awarded MBA
Dustin Manning formerly of Thomson, IL and a current resident of Phoenix, AZ was recently awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University in 2009. Dustin is also a USA Triathlon Coach and actively competes in triathlons, marathons and other endurance sports. Dustin has completed multiple half ironmans and qualified and ran the Boston Marathon in 2011. He is currently employed as a civilian at Luke Air Force Base, 56 Security Forces Squadron, Glendale, AZ as Chief of Security Forces Training. Dustin served six years active duty in the US Air Force and had duty assignments at RAF Lakenheath, England, Kunsan Air Base, South Korea and as a Secruity Forces training instructor at Lackland Air Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is currently a Technical Sergeant in the US Air Force Reserves assigned to 56 Security Forces Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, AZ. Dustin will be relocating to Imsbach, Germany in May. From there, he and his business partner Chris Hebeler, OPT of San Diego, California will be launching their internet business, www.SpOltsWebPT.com. Dustin and Chris are both 2002 graduates of Fulton High School. Dustin is the son of Bill and Lola Manning of Thomson, IL. Wiersemas Welcome Baby BoyAlicen Wiersema is proud to announce the arrival of her baby brother, Cooper Scott Wiersema. Cooper was born on April 5th, 2012 to Gregg & Jackie Wiersema of Morrison. He weighed 10 lbs, 7.2 oz and was 21 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Terry & Deb Adolph of Chadwick. Paternal grandparents are Larry L. & Janice Wiersema of Morrison. Great grandparents are Alice Adolph of Chadwick, Phyllis Forth of Mt. Carroll, & Gene & Hope Justice of Odessa, Texas. Jennifer Brinkmeier Selected as Phi Beta Kappa ElecteeJennifer Brinkmeier, of Mount Carroll, IL, has been selected as a Phi Beta Kappa electee at Beloit College. Forty members of the class of 2012 and three members of the class of 2013 have been honored as the 2012 Phi Beta Kappa electees at Beloit College. In addition, two members of the class of 2012, who were elected in 2011, are also included on the list. For over 200 years, election to Phi Beta Kappa has been a recognition of intellectual capacities well employed, especially in the acquiring of an education in the liberal arts and sciences. The objectives of humane learning encouraged by Phi Beta Kappa include intellectual honesty and tolerance, range of intellectual interests, and understanding – not merely knowledge. Jennifer Brinkmeier Presents at Beloit College Symposium DayJennifer Brinkmeier of Mount Carroll, Ill., presented her research on “Anthropomorphism and the Obese American Pet” at the 36th Annual Beloit College Student Symposium on Thursday, April 12. She is an anthropology major. Symposium Day at Beloit College is an academic forum at which students publicly present their research to the college community. All classes are cancelled to allow students, faculty and staff to attend the presentations. Topics range from scientific studies to interpretations of literary works. Each of the nearly 90 students participating in the program prepare a half-hour oral presentation or make poster presentations of original research conducted during the 2011-2012 academic year. Symposium Day participants are honored at a closing reception. Beloit College is a residential, liberal arts college offering 40 majors to its 1,250 students. Located 90 miles northwest of Chicago, Beloit is one of the nation’s most international colleges, drawing students from 41 nations as well as 49 states.
