It was a game that was closer than the score indicated on Friday night at Massey Field in Savanna as EPC came away with the 34-13 victory.
EPC got their offense rolling in the first as an Aaron Reed fifty yard run was capped off with a 5 yd. TD run by Mack Byers, Zach Moyer’s PAT made it seven nothing Wildcatz. Defensive back Jordan Blair then stepped in front of a Thunder receiver and returned the pick forty two yards for a touchdown. Moyer’s kick made it fourteen to nothing Catz.
West Carroll would find the end zone in the second frame as QB Matt LaShelle found Jordan Speer on a fifty yard scoring strike to make it fourteen to seven at the halftime intermission.
No one would find the endzone in the third quarter and the score remained close going into the final period. A fifty two yard romp by EPC’s Joe Harrington would make it twenty to seven. The Thunder’s Marcus Klein returned a kick sixty seven yards to paydirt to make it twenty to thirteen but a 1 yard run by Reed and a twenty one yard score by Austin Young would make the final margin of victory for the Catz.
Aaron Reed led the EPC running attack, gaining one hundred forty two yards on twenty five carries. Harrington accounted for seventy four yards on nine touches. Thunder QB Matt LaShelle passed for one hundred nineteen yards with one score and four picks, three by Blair. EPC also took the F/S game 28-8.
