Morrison City Council Kicks Off 2012

MORRISON – Members of the Morrison City Council met for the first meeting of the New Year on January 9th, 2012 in the Whiteside County Board Room. All aldermen were present except Ron Kallemeyn.

Several citizens were on hand for the public comment portion. Brent Shadel, who resides on Route 78 near the proposed bike path, spoke regarding the apparent lack of communication. Everett Pannier gave a speech regarding the proposed hiring of a director of M.A.D.C. Also, Jeff Bramm voiced his approval of the installation of the bike path on Route 78.

Department of Public Works Dirctor, Gary Tresenritter updated the council on the progress of the well drilling. Several problems have come up, but were addressed accordingly. Attorney Tim Zollinger reminded council members to complete online training which is a requirement.

Chief of Police Brian Melton apologized to the council for not having a report to give, but stated he would have his annual report completed for the next meeting.

The consent agenda was approved, with the amount of bills payable totaling $106,147.95.

Items for consideration and possible action found the council approving ordinance #12-01: Amendment to Zoning Ordinance, and also the 2012 annual siren maintance contract with Fulton Technologies Inc.

A memorandum agreement with the Morrison Area Development Corporation was approved, as well as an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for pedestrian pathway revisions. The contract plans for traffic signal modifications at various intersections on US Route 30. The project is tentatively scheduled for March 9th, 2012. The estimated cost for this project within the city of Morrison is $55,200.00, with the city’s estimated share being $2,760.00.

The council approved an agreement between the city and Willett, Hofmann & Associates to develop a plan, to include engineering design cost, and preliminary construction cost to improve drainage at several locations within the City. Aldermen also approved a proposal for Inflow/Infiltration Plan, and a wastewater treatment plant engineering design agreement.

In other items for consideration, the council approved the appointment of an Engineering Firm for the city. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Willett Hoffman and Associates was mutually agreed upon. A formal agreement will be presented to Willett/Hoffman at the January 23rd council meeting.

An executive session was entered into for the purpose of Executive Session Minute Review 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (21).

The next meeting of the Morrison City Council will be held on January 23rd 2012 in the Whiteside County Board Room located at 400 N .Cherry St.
