The Mount Carroll Good Samaritan Society celebrated Founder’s Day on Saturday, October 1.

(Left) Their first-ever “Scarecrows on Parade” contest drew 6 entries of some very well-designed scarecrows, guaranteed to keep birds away from any garden! This guy won a 2nd Place award for “Most Traditional Design,” and a 1st Place ribbon as the “Staff Favorite.” He was designed by Jackie and Jackson Medley, with 2nd Place going to Emily Mueller & Company. Residents, family members and staff voted for the following categories:
Most Traditional Scarecrow: 1st Place: Country Kids 4H Club, 2nd Place – Jackson & Jackie Medley; Most Unusual Scarecrow: 1st Place: Emily Mueller & Company, 2nd Place - Simon Family; Funniest Scarecrow: 1st Place Fonda Wright, Angie Field, Breanne Field, 2nd Place - Simon Family.
Along with the Pie & Ice cream, a quilt raffle and Silent Auction were held, with proceeds to benefit the residents.
