There has been a lot of question recently on a piece of “junk” mail that many farmers are receiving. Many farmers have been receiving a notice in the mail about Supervisor Training. The official-looking and threatening notice states they would have to take a 60-minute class on the use of alcohol, either in person or online, and another 60-minute class on drug abuse. Is this legit?
Well it depends on if the farmer or any of his employees are required to be enrolled in a drug and alcohol screening program. That, in turn, is predicated on whether the driver is required to have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
I have a whole fact sheet on the notice, if you want to give me a call, I can get a copy out to you, or we have also put it on our webpage at HYPERLINK "http://www.carrollcfb.org" www.carrollcfb.org. In summary, what you need to know is if you employ any driver- including yourself- who is required to have a CDL because of the work they do for your farming operation, then you must enroll these drivers in a drug and alcohol screening program (DASP). You will also need to assign someone to serve as “supervisor” for that program. That supervisor must be trained in accordance to the regulation.
The Annual Membership Appreciation Breakfast has been set for this year. We are going to be holding it a little bit earlier than we have in the past. This year we will be holding it on Friday, June 29th. It seems like July gets a little crazy so we are hopeful that by moving it we may be able to catch more people this way. We will be again serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. So mark your calendars now. We will be sending out postcards in the next few weeks as your official invitation.
Mothers’ Day is only a few days away. If you have been busy procrastinating, don’t forget we have a large selection of BeanPod soy candles here at the office. They come in three sizes, 4.5 ounces for $6, 16 ounces for $12, and 25 ounces for $15. We have quite the variety of scents in stock, so we should have something in a scent mom would like. Some local favorites include the lilac, McIntosh apple, raspberry lemonade, and more!
