The 29th Annual Legislative Update will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County Fairgrounds. We will having Illinois Farm Bureau Senior Director of Local Government, Kevin Rund come speak. Federal truck regulations affect the vast majority of farmers in Illinois. New weight laws started for Illinois truckers in 2010 and significant changes in Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations are unfolding this year—some of the answers still pending. USDOT# and UCR registrations are still widely misunderstood.

It will be a 2 hour seminar. Kevin will be joined by ISP Trooper Harper who will talk about what he looks for during an inspection and traffic stop.

The seminar will focus on trucking laws important to farmers and will recap key fundamentals. In addition, you’ll have the chance to ask your questions.

Next Tuesday, August 16, we have four Young Leaders headed to compete in the AgriQuiz Bowl at the Illinois State Fair. This is the first year we have put together a team. I have no doubt that while they are rookies the guys can certainly compete with any of the other teams signed up.
