The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department had three accidents reported on Saturday, September 24, 2011. The first was an OnStar call reporting a 2-vehicle accident with injuries near Zion Rd., received at 12:25 p.m.
Dale Boyer, 43, of Savanna was traveling west on Zion Rd. in an end-loader when the vehicle had problems, causing Boyer to lose control. The end-loder collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Dorothea C. Lopez, 55, of Savanna.
Lopez was transported by Savanna Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA. A passenger in her vehicle was also transported there. Both were treated and released.
Boyer refused treatment and was taken by a private vehicle to Mercy Hospital.
Assisting at the scene were the Savanna Fire, Ambulance and Police Departments, Mount Carroll Ambulance, and J&S Body. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Dept. Citations are pending, with no further info released at this time.
At 3:07 p.m., they received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle accident with injuries at the intersection of Scenic Ridge Rd. and Haas Rd.
Stanislav Berestovyy of Sterling was traveling north on Scenic Ridge Rd. when he lost control and the motorcycle laid down into the ditch. Berestovyy was transported from the scene by Savanna Ambulance and was then transferred into a Lifeline Helicopter. He was transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford.
Assisting at the scene were the Savanna Fire & Ambulance Departments, and J&S Body. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Dept.
Then Saturday evening at 7:20 p.m., the Sheriff’s Dept. received another 911 call regarding a motorcycle accident 7 miles north of Savanna, at Ridge Rd. at the intersection of Haas Rd.
A southbound motorcycle driven by David Wambach, 52, and his passenger Robyn Chambers, 52, both of Lake Mills, WI, were injured when the motorcycle slid into a ditch, causing Chambers to be thrown from the cycle. Wambach was transported by Savanna Ambulance to Clinton IA Hospital where he was treated and released.
Chambers was transported by Savanna Ambulance and was transferred by Lifeline Helicopter to St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, where she succumbed to her in juries. She was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Dept.

On Sunday, September 25, at 7:00 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff received a 911 call reporting a one vehicle accident on IL Rt. 84 approximately one mile north of Savanna near the Palisades State Park.
Matthew Anderson, 19, of Savanna, was traveling south on Rt. 84 when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a sign and guard rail.
There were no injuries. Anderson was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Assisting at the scene were the Savanna Police Dept. and J&S Body. No further information is being released.
