It was a field day for kids during Heirloom Market’s Grand Opening, held all day Saturday, Sept. 24, in Thomson.

(Left) Mariya, Amara, Abri and their family from Fulton, IL were intrigued by the skill of the balloon twister at the event.

(Right) Tristan Smith and Crystal Cook, from Commanche, IA, had a blast on one of the most popular attractions at the Grand Opening - Camel rides!

The folks at the Heirloom Market offered a petting zoo, face painting, fire truck and train rides, a magic show and pumpkin maze that kept the little ones busy while the parents shopped.

A huge supply of locally-grown pumpkins, watermelons, squash, musk melons (sold out!) and tons of other produce were available during the Heirloom Market’s Grand Opening on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Thomson.

The staff of Heirloom Market also presented seed saving workshops, and answered questions about their large array of alternative energy products.
