Johns Celebrate 65th

Jason and Claire Johns of 227 E. Lincoln Street, Mount Carroll, are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. They were married March 25th, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Church in Paris, France. They resided in Germany for 15 months while he served in the United States Army. They then farmed in Carroll County for 20 years. Jason retired as a fieldman with Production Credit Association in 1985 after 15 years. Claire retired from Mt. Carroll Mutual Insurance Company after 25 years.

They were blessed with four children, Teresa (Jim) Fleming of Kalona, IA; Jay (Kathy) Johns of Bloomington, IL, Pat (Al) Reynolds of Clinton, IA, and Margaret, deceased. They have five grandchildren.

There will be an Open House given in their honor by their children and grandchildren on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 at St. John and Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of gifts the couple prefers to receive non-perishable food items to be donated to the Savanna Food Pantry.

Bumphreys 35th Wedding Anniversary

John and Elaine Bumphrey are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. John and the former Elaine Asche were wed on March 26, 1977 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Pearl City. John and Elaine are dairy farmers. Together they raised two children, Dan and Lorie, both of Pearl City.

 

 

 

 

 

Kaus Family Welcomes New Son

Tim and Sarah Kaus of Lanark, Illinois are the proud parents of a new son, Trevor James Kaus, born on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, Wisconsin.

Grandparents are Darrell and Carroll Stoner of Shannon, Illinois and Jerry and Tita Kaus of DeKalb, Illinois. Great grandparents are Dorothy and the late Robert Stoner of Lanark, The late Gus and Irma Haas of Elizabeth and Art and Barb Revell of Lampe, Missouri.

Ralston Wins Award

Christy Ralston, daughter of Christina DeMoss of Savanna, Illinois, a member of the West Carroll FFA Chapter was selected as District 1 FFA winner in Creed Speaking. Participants in the Creed Speaking Career Development Event (CDE) must recite the FFA Creed from memory and then answer questions dealing with their knowledge and understanding of the Creed during a five minute questioning period.

Only freshmen class agriculture education/FFA members are eligible to compete in the CDE. Winning the District 1 FFA Creed Speaking CDE makes Christy eligible to compete in the Creed Speaking DCE which will be held at Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois on May 5th. The State winner will recite the FFA Creed at the Illinois Association FFA State Convention, June 12-14, 2012 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois.
