Milledgeville/Polo put four first inning runs on the scoreboard and that proved to be more than enough as the Missiles shut out West Carroll 6-0. The Thunder managed only one hit of Missile pitcher Keali Engelkens who fanned thirteen Thunder batters.
At the plate, Milledgeville/Polo had eleven hits, led by Brianna Herin who homered and knocked in three. Teammate Taylor Kent added a double and a run batted in.
Thunder head coach Mathey commented. “One key to the game was the M/P has a girl named Engelkens. She can do it all. M/P also has a lot of girls that are very good players as well. They are a top-notch team. We made some mistakes early and M/P made us pay by scoring five runs in the first two innings. We played good ball after the second inning.”

Eastland’s Megan Bunyer went two for three at the plate with two runs batted in. Katelynn Dickman and Taylor Ruter added rbi’s for Eastland. Katy Cook had a triple and the lone run batted in for West Carroll.
Thunder coach Mathey said, “We held them hitless until the fifth, then they did a good job of stringing together some hits. Our hits were not strung together and that is what was the biggest difference tonight. I thought both teams did play well.”

In a game shortened to five innings because of lightning, West Carroll put seven runs on the board in the fourth and fifth to eke out the narrow victory over Pearl City. Adam Ferguson took the pitching win for West Carroll and also added a solo home run at the plate. Teammate Trey Enloe added two doubles and three runs batted in.
Thinder coach Kamper said, “The game was called in the top of the sixth due to weather and it was ruled a complete game through five innings. We didn’t play well. We gave up three unearned runs but Adam pitched well and we played well enough to win.”

Cougars Crush West Carroll
By Craig Lang
Prairie Advocate Sports
Eastland exploded for twelve fifth inning runs to cruise to the lopsided 14-4 win at Lanark. The Cougars put single runs on the scoreboard in the third and sixth innings also. West Carroll put up two in the fourth and single runs in the third and fifth innings, and led 4-1 going into the Eastland half of the 5th inning.
Tyler Brashaw took the pitching loss for the Thunder. West Carroll coach Kamper commented, “Eastland was definitely the better team but we played four and a half of the best innings we’ve played all year. The bottom of the fifth inning things just fell apart, not entirely due to us and Eastland just got themselves on a roll. We gave up two walks and made one error in the fifth. Eastland strung together eight straight hits and we couldn’t break their groove.”
