Beverly “Jeanie” Slick

Beverly “Jeanie” Slick, age 74, of Milledgeville, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at her home after a six month battle with cancer. She was under the care of Hospice of the Rock River Valley, her husband and both of her sons.

Jeanie was born October 28, 1937 in Milledgeville the daughter of Alvin and Delia (Frank) Schreiner. She was a 1955 graduate of Milledgeville High School and was a member of the Milledgeville Brethren Church. Jeanie married Franklin D. Slick on June 5, 1956 in Savanna. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and was an avid pet and bird lover. Jeanie was a lifelong resident of Milledgeville and she appreciated the slow and peaceful living of this rural area. Desserts of pies, cookies and cakes were a weekly treat for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening especially tending to her roses. “Gardening is a way of showing you believe in tomorrow”.

Survivors include her husband of Milledgeville; two sons, Rick Slick of Milledgeville and Mark Slick of Naperville; one sister, Irene (Frank) Fogel of Milledgeville; and one brother, Edwin Schreiner of Milledgeville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Helen Deem; and one brother, Irvin “Kip” Schreiner.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Milledgeville Brethren Church with Pastor Jim Black officiating. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Milledgeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Milledgeville Brethren Church and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.

Alice W. Zink

Alice W. Zink, age 78, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at University Of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Cremation Rites will be accorded and a private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in Alice’s memory.

Douglas J. Kalec, age 73 of Thomson, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. A time of sharing will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the funeral home.

Alice M. Osborn

Alice M. Osborn, age 71, of Savanna, Illinois, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. A service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon in Evergreen Cemetery, Shullsburg, Wisconsin.

Marvin R. Hartwick

Marvin R. Hartwick, age 82, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Sunday, January 8, 2011, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2011, at Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Cremation rites will follow the funeral service. A memorial has been established.

Ila Dornbush, age 76, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Monday, January 9, 2012, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, also at Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be directed the Mt. Carroll Ambulance.
