The EPC Wildcatz scored 28 unanswered first quarter points and cruised to the easy 55-8 win in Lanark on Friday evening.
EPC running back Aaron Reed found the end zone three times in the first quarter on runs of one, one and twenty five yards. QB Drake Walker also tossed a forty yard TD strike to Keven Glastetter.
The win improves EPC’s record to a perfect 7-0, 5-0 going into week eight where they will host the Le-Win Panthers.
Warren put their only points of the contest on the board in the final quarter as Dylan Riggle found Dylan Dawson for a twenty one yard scoring strike.
Running back Aaaron Reed led the EPC ground attack, carrying the football six times for 93 yards and three scores. Teammates Jordan Blair, Mikki Stichter, Cody Polizzi and Ben Thomas also found the endzone for the Catz.

The West Carroll Thunder played neck and neck with the Sherrard Tigers in Savanna on Friday night, falling to the Tigers 27-21. The non-conference loss puts the Thunder at 3-4 and means they must run the table in weeks eight and nine by beating Pecatonica and Dakota to become playoff eligible.
The Thunder took an early 7-0 lead as Marcus Klein found the end zone from eleven yards out in the opening quarter. Sharrard came right back with QB Jacob Frichtnicht finding two different receivers to put the Tigers on top 14-7. West Carroll responded with a Tyler Kingery second quarter TD to knot the score at fourteen at the half.
A third quarter touchdown by each team made it twenty one-all going into the final quarter. Sherrard’s Frichtnicht would find Andy Anderson for a twenty yard score for the final margin of victory for the Tigers.
Thunder running back Marcus Klein amassed 144 yards on twenty carries and two scores. Quarterback Matt LaShelle completed twelve of twenty two passes for 103 yards. Frichtnicht led Sherrad completing twelve of twenty four for 168 yards and three scores.

Cardinals Block Hopes of Pec Comeback
By Ryan Ekvall
For The Prairie Advocate News
In the fourth quarter, the Forreston Cardinals rode a blocked field goal attempt and a blocked extra point try to victory over the Pecatonica Indians Friday night as they won a thriller, 27-26 in Pecatonica.
With the back and forth battle tied at 20 in the final quarter, Pecatonica attempted a field goal to take the lead. Forreston blocked the try, and the ball was snatched out of the air by Forreston’s Adam Aikens and returned 96 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. Pecatonica fought right back, driving down the field with poise after the special teams blunder, and quarterback Quinn Nichol found Cole Salamone in the back of the end zone for a 10 yard touchdown pass with 7:29 remaining on the clock. Pecatonica set up for the extra point try to tie the game, only to have that attempt blocked.
Forreston head coach Denny Diduch explained, “The kids were pumped up...I think that was the most push we’ve ever gotten on a field goal or a PAT, and they knew the game was on the line and the kids rose to the occasion.”
The win strengthened the Cardinal’s playoff hopes, as they improved to 4-3 with games remaining at Warren and at Rock Falls, two teams with a combined three wins. “Any win is a good win, and especially when you’re right around .500 it’s that much more important,” said Diduch, noting his team may be shorthanded again going into Warren. The Cardinals were without “5 or 6 starters...for a variety of reasons” Friday night.
Sophomore Brian Kraft filled in nicely for Hake, carrying the ball 21 times for 87 yards, with two touchdowns. “In a lot of programs, he might be the starting fullback. We knew he was going to have a good game, we weren’t too worried about that,” said Diduch. The Cardinals got big production from Chris Sander as well. “Chris stepped up at tailback and just had a great game...offensively, defensively and on special teams. We had a bunch of kids step up,” told the coach.
Sander ran for 119 yards on 13 carries, and also opened the second half with an 84 yard kickoff return to the Pecatonica one yard line; setting up one of Kraft’s touchdowns. On the previous play, with time expiring in the first half, Kyle Janicke found his brother Kenyon Janicke for a 6 yard score to tie the game at 13.
Even with Forreston’s stellar special teams play, Pecatonica had chances in the fourth. Forreston drove the ball down to the 6 yard line, before turning the ball over on downs. The Cardinals got it right back as Brett Carlson intercepted a Quinn Nichol pass. Trailing by just a point with under two minutes to play, Pecatonica forced a Forreston punt to regain possession at their own 10 yard line. After finding receiver Cid Neevenhoven (8 catches, 170 yards, TD) a few times to get to the Forreston 34, with time ticking below thirty seconds, Nichol aired out a pass down the right sideline only for it to be intercepted by Forreston’s Justin Ruter to essentially end the game. “We were happy to let them catch the ball and make sure we made the tackles,” explained Diduch of his defense on the final drive.
