If you don’t feel violated after reading this, you might want to have a mental health or medical check-up. In Illinois, we are not secure in our persons, as per the U.S. Constitution, because the state mandates that all municipalities must shove a known carcinogen and neurotoxin down our throats.
Eight states have fluoridation laws, but only two have absolute mandates. Illinois is one of those two states.
Tom, my husband and business partner, also a Lanark Alderman, asked City Council to discontinue using fluoride in our drinking water. When I was informed after the meeting that though some on the council seemed all for it, our city maintenance supervisor Les Guenzler stated that fluoridation is mandated by our state. I was shocked, dismayed and felt victimized when I found out he is correct.
Fluoride is a bi-product of fertilizer production. It is often used as rat poison as well. If fertilizer producers had to dispose of this toxin, it would inflict a huge cost on the industry and unfortunately on farmers who use their products.
What is being done, in my estimation, is to distribute fluoride in small amounts over a wide area to reduce the toxicity. It doesn’t eliminate the toxic effects, especially after 50 years of distribution.
Yet, we have to make choices between the health and well-being of people and the profitability of manufacturers of fertilizer. Maybe there are other ways of making fertilizer. Maybe we all need to buy expensive filters. It’s healthier than being the filter.
Such a deal: Illinois government mandates that we poison ourselves - and the taxpayers pay to do it!
In 2001, unions of the US EPA asked the Senate to remove fluoride from our drinking water. Nothing has been done. Find “Why EPA Headquarters Union of Scientists Opposes Fluoridation” at http://www.nteu280.org/Issues/Fluoride/NTEU280-Fluoride.htm
Fluoride is a highly reactive compound. It “sticks” to other elements easily, like teeth, which is a great thing in a dentist’s office or in toothpaste. There is no solid evidence that ingesting fluoride is good for anyone. It is definitely not good for those with impaired kidney function as even healthy kidneys can only remove about 50% of what a person ingests, the rest “sticking” in various body parts.
Through the water system, fluoride has found its way into many of our foods. Today, we get many times the fluoride that was ever recommended, especially if you drink a lot of water or green tea.
In any event, the State of Illinois and its courts have determined that it is for your own good that you ingest fluoride. I would prefer to decide whether I drink fluoridated water or consume anything else whether anyone thinks it’s good for me or not. Maybe they will decide we all consume anti-cholesterol drugs or Prozac for our own good next.
The Constitution has given me the ability to determine what I consume in the Preamble, “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,” but the State of Illinois has determined otherwise, forcing its citizens to do what the government says is best for them.
Even with 98% of Western European nations rejecting fluoridated water, the State of Illinois doesn’t budge on its unconstitutional edict.

The following is just a small portion of what fluoride can do to children. There’s much more on the effects to all humans on this website that goes into more detail at www.fluoridealert.org/
On November 9th, 2006, based on a National Research Council (NRC) report (1) the American Dental Association (ADA) warned that fluoridated water should not be mixed into concentrated formula or foods intended for babies one year and younger in order to avoid moderate dental fluorosis (white, yellow or brown stains affecting the tooth surface) (2).
On December 15, 2006, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) stated that using fluoridated water for infant formula may influence a child’s risk for developing enamel fluorosis (3).
According to the CDC, 32% of American children have dental fluorosis, a significant increase from 23% in the 1980s (4).
The Academy of General Dentistry has cautioned parents to avoid fluoridated water when making infant foods (5).
The American Academy of Pediatrics has advised that fluoride not be given to infants 6 months and younger (6).
Fluoridated water (1 ppm) has 250 times more fluoride than occurs naturally in human breast milk (.004pm) (7).
The Environmental Working Group analyzed government data in March 2006, and found that babies are overexposed to fluoride in most major U.S. cities. In Boston,
over 60% of formula-fed infants are over the safe fluoride exposure level (8).
In November 2006, the respected medical journal The Lancet described fluoride as an “emerging neurotoxic substance” due to evidence linking fluoride to lower IQs in children, and brain damage in animals (9).
In March 2006, the National Research Council reported that fluoride is an “endocrine disrupter” which may interfere with the normal activity of the thyroid and pineal glands (10).
A May 2006 Harvard study found a significant link between fluoridated water and bone cancer in boys (11).
Common household water filters do not remove fluoride; and unlike chlorine, which steams off when water is boiled, fluoride becomes more concentrated.
