Catz Defeat Pirates
By Craig Lang
Prairie Advocate Sports
The EPC football team traveled to Galena on Friday and came home with the 28-13 non conference victory. The win moved EPC to 3-0 on the season while Galena dropped to 1-2.
The Wildcatz running game was on track and led by Aaron Reed, Joe Harrington and Mack Byers. Reed carried the ball twenty three times for one hundred eighty yards and a touchdown, Harrington carried eight times for sixty nine yards and two scores and Byers had nine rushes for seventy two yards and a touchdown.
EPC jumped out to the 14-0 first quarter lead and held the Pirates scoreless in the opening half. Galena was finally able to break into the scoring column in the third quarter but it was too little too late as the Catz ground game was too much for them to overcome.
Trevor Harris led the ground attack for Galena, carrying the football nineteen times for ninety four yards. Both Galena scores came on passing plays in the second half. EPC also won the frosh/soph contest 44-0.

In the end, the Panthers came away with the 31-6 victory.
Le-Win led six to nothing after one quarter and extended their lead to eighteen at the half, putting up twelve second quarter points. Forreston managed to get on the scoreboard in the third on a fourteen yard TD carry by Adam Akins but Le-Win countered that score with an eighteen yard TD carry by Griffin to take a 24-6 lead into the final frame. Tevin Sellers capped off the scoring with a fifteen yard touchdown run to make the final score.
The Cardinals were led by Akin’s forty three yards on the ground with Hunter Hake adding twenty five. Quinn Haas added eighty nine yards on the ground for the Panthers. Le-Win’s frosh/soph team also took that contest 47-6.
