Timothy L. Foltz , 45 yrs. old, of Lanark, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mt. Carroll.
He was born Oct. 1, 1965 in the Morrison Community Hospital, the son of Sandra Rogers and Jerry Foltz. He was a 1981 graduate of Lanark High School. He was the owner and operator of Circle T Construction for 26 years.
He was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church for 30 yrs. He served as a Lanark Fireman for 24 yrs, an EMT for 18 yrs, and taught firefighting classes for 10 yrs.
Surviving are his daughter, Hayden; his father, Jerry (Sandy) Foltz of Chadwick; his mother, Sandy (Wayne) Rogers of Lanark; a half brother, Jason (Angie)Foltz of PA; and half sister, Stacy Foltz of Chadwick; three uncles, Keith (Marna) Foltz of the state of Washington, Kenneth (Sandra) Foltz of Lena, and Allan Gravenstein of Shannon, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Ethel Gravenstein, and his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Myrtle Foltz.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, with Rev. Jerry Martz of the Brookville United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday at the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark.

Helen M. Dykstra, 87 of Morrison, IL passed away on Friday – October 22, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North – Clinton, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Morrison Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff McIlrath, Pastor, will officiate the services at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Morrison Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Memorials will be established through Self Help Enterprises in Sterling, IL and Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, IL.
Helen was born December 13, 1922 in Mt. Carroll, IL to Harry J. and Cora (Hartman) Rogers. Helen was educated in the Mt. Carroll Grade School and attended Mt. Carroll High School.
She married Roy S. Dykstra on October 9, 1942 in Mt. Carroll. Her husband preceded her in death, on September 3, 2004. Prior to her marriage, Helen was employed by the Savanna Ordinance Depot. She then farmed with her husband in the rural Morrison area. Helen was a member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church – Fulton, IL and served as a Sunday School teacher. She also served as a 4-H leader.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Donald) Reed of Morrison, IL and Lori (Darryl) Appel of Chadwick, IL; three sons, Ronald (Nancy) Dykstra of Fulton, IL, Steven (Judi Brunner) Dykstra of Thomson, IL, and Paul Dykstra of Dixon, IL; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grand children; and one brother, Harold (Dorothy) Rogers of Mt. Carroll.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Roy, two grandchildren, one great grandson, three sisters, Edna Boerema, Mary Edmonds and Grace Ritenour; three brothers, Donald Rogers, Kenneth Rogers and in infancy, Paul Rogers.
Paul R. Melendy
Paul R. “Red” Melendy, age 96, of Savanna, Illinois, died, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with Reverend Larry Thomson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Savanna in Red’s memory.
