Who Will Chose - the Voter or the Party?
Adam Kinzinger stoops low for the congressional race. Kinzinger may have ridden in with the “Tea Party sweep” in 2010, but that was against a liberal Democrat. Now he has a year-long voting record. (Congressman Don) Manzullo won endorsement for the 3/20 primary by the ILLINOIS TEA PARTY, with 90 member groups, based on voting record, not jet-miles.
Deceptive ads (with delivery of snazzy newspapers to constituents, featuring multiple photos of the handsome pilot) does not bode well for Kinzinger’s actions in office. If he is willing to lie to us now, what will he do in office? If the RINOs in DC will spend millions for Kinzinger, I, for one, am forewarned.
Here are three Kinzinger votes which should give you pause, as you consider whether the “old guy” should retire: (1) voting with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi for a $15M earmark for a California nature preserve; (2) voting with DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz to fund left leaning research projects (EPA STAR program); (3) voting with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky to fund the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) organization providing the actual loan to Solyndra.
Clearly, the Republican DC establishment favors Kinzinger. He’s got all the money and PAC support he needs to win the March 20th Primary. Only an educated, discriminating electorate can elect Don Manzullo. Heritage Action (political arm of the Heritage Foundation) rates Manzullo 21% higher than Kinzinger in conservative votes.

I believe in the rule of law and that nobody is above the law. All criminals will be fully prosecuted whether they are rich, poor, famous or infamous.

The constitutional rights laid out in the Constitutions of the United States and Illinois are fundamental to our freedom and our protection and they should never be violated.
I am a fiscal conservative and I understand and believe that all the money in the budget will be entrusted to me by the people of Whiteside County to perform the tasks required of the office as efficiently and inexpensively as possible.

Capitol Report
By Jim Sacia, State Representative, 89th District
“Budgeting for Results” and the people of Illinois demand that we tell the truth. This was the tone that Governor Quinn set as he addressed the packed chamber of the Illinois House of Representatives with his annual budget address on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.
The protocol is a scene to marvel at as the Door Keeper announces, “Mr. Speaker, His Excellency the Governor of Illinois, Patrick Quinn.” Five minutes of pomp and circumstance and then a very serious tone, as well it must be, sets in.
Our state has found itself in the worst financial condition anyone can remember and naturally we all look to our chief executive officer, who is surrounded by many bright advisors, on just how is the best way out of this deplorable situation.
To the Governor’s great credit, he addressed two of our 800 pound guerillas, namely a pension system that is not sustainable and a Medicaid system that is completely out of control. We all agree they need to be fixed, but really Governor, how about addressing the best way to do it without regard for political ramifications. Yes, he did say that ninety percent of state retirees get free health care and that must go away, but most everyone already agrees with that and it’s a very small piece of a very big puzzle. Let’s get around the big table, both sides of the aisle, like we did with last year’s budget (the first time since 1992) and come up with the best answer. You might say this is naive thinking but until we address the issue without regard for reelection it will never be solved.
The Governor failed to mention that approximately $1 out of every $3 you send us goes to pay debt obligations. We can never be solvent if we continue spending on debt service. That money should go to government services. That being said, we are still $8.5 billion in arrears.
The Governor failed to mention two other 800 pound guerillas, namely the need for unemployment compensation reform and workers compensation reform. How could he miss those when Caterpillar sited them as the primary reason why their new 1400 employee assembly plant would be built in Georgia and not Illinois?
The Governor stated we will close two major Illinois prisons, namely Tamms and Dwight. I’m prepared to bet the tallest beer in Pecatonica that will not happen.
I like Governor Quinn. I recognize he has a tough job but until he is willing to grab the rudder of the ship of state, sail over unaffordable give-away programs and go nose to nose with the state labor unions, we will continue to be awash on the rocks.
